With an established Twitter presence, Kawasaki Motors UK launched a Facebook fan page earlier in 2010 to meet the demands of Kawasaki fans in the social networking environment. A technical problem with the platform meant that the site malfunctioned after several successful months of operation and was not recoverable – despite the considerable efforts of Kawasaki and the team at Facebook. Now a new site, Kawasaki News UK, has been launched and it is bigger and better than ever. Following months of painstaking data recovery, plus the addition of a whole raft of new content, the site is now live and being updated on a daily basis. The content – much of it never before seen – includes huge numbers of images, an expanded video section and an events page keeping news hungry Kawasaki fans up to speed. Created entirely in-house by staff at Kawasaki Motors UK, the fan page covers a vast swathe of the company’s past, present and future, as Communications and PR Manager, Martin Lambert, explains. “There is an almost insatiable UK, European and worldwide demand for Kawasaki information, whether that be hilarious old TV commercials, exclusive images from the pit box of a World Superbike or MXGP meeting or news of the 2011 ZX-10R. Kawasaki News UK on Facebook provides the perfect home for many items from our archive, as well as a natural location for the interesting and stimulating information that is generated on a daily basis.” Re-engineered with the help of American social networking specialists, GoFuse, the new Kawasaki News UK site has already gathered fans during its testing period as Lambert confirms. “It’s obvious that there is a considerable appetite for Kawasaki content as we accumulated eager fans during the secret on-line element of the construction phase. We hope to see fan numbers grow rapidly over the coming months, as well as seeing what people think of our renewed Facebook presence.”
